Lara. I was born into darkness. Just like a puppy, only my darkness is eternal. Everyone else sees a world I can only imagine, but hey, don't pity me. I don't. I've got a lot of imagination, and I’ve made my world beautiful more beautiful that you can know. When I was a small child, my mother said I used to run into furniture, and if I was not too badly hurt, I’d get back up and continue running down the same path. When I grew older I understood that the world is not built for blind people. I needed a white cane and I needed to trust my bestie, Elaine, and jump when she yelled, “Puddle”. Sometimes, just for the fun of it, she’d yell puddle and there would be no puddle, but generally our system worked well. Now, I’m all grown up and she tells me that the most mysterious man in Durango Falls has stuck a job vacancy on her noticeboard and that I should apply for it. Apparently Kit Carson needs a blind reader. To be honest it sounds a bit like those times she yelled puddle and there was no puddle. But what the hell? I’ll give her a laugh and jump once again. This is the story of what happened when I jumped. Kit. I came to Durango Falls because it was the perfect place to hide. The townsfolk here don't like strangers and I don't like people. So I don’t talk to no one and no one talks to me. Suits me just fine. For five years now I’ve been livin’ alone at the edge of this forest. Just me and the wolves I’ve adopted, but this winter my soul has started hankering for something more. I know it’s sure as hell ain’t for the warmth of a woman’s body. I’m done with that. The military made me into a fuckin’ monster and I wouldn’t put any woman through that. Not even a whore. She’d have to be blindfolded to enjoy herself. Maybe I’m just hankering for a woman’s sweet voice reading to me the way my mother used to when I was five. Just before she died. Think I’ll advertise for a blind reader. A female blind reader. That’s what I thought I wanted. Well all that shit went out the window when I laid eyes on her. Now this woman’s body is all I can think about …

Blind Reader Wanted Georgia Le Carre, Caryl Milton, Nicola Rhead, IS Creations 9781910575482 Books Reviews

Georgia Le Carre is a new name to me. This was my first and it was very good !! Sometimes you don't know what to expect from an author you've never read before. I was not disappointed by any means. The detail of the characters and their quirks was just great. Lara and Kit's storyline was a little rough but that was Kit's fault. As a reader we really don't know too much about him but when Lara comes along he really opens up and we get to see more of him from the inside. His pets are freaking awesome too !! If I wasn't disappointed with "Blind Reader" you won't be either. I betchya.
There was a bonus story included but my review is only for Blind Reader Wanted. I loved it. The writer captured small town living perfectly with its petty politics and busy bodies. I love that this is a story where one of the main characters has a disability. That's rarely seen in the romance genre and this writer handles it well. Lara is a strong, vibrant character. Kit is hot. He's a man any woman would be lucky to share a wolf pack with. I wanted more with his secret but it got resolved as well as it could. This is definitely worth reading and the bonus story is pretty good too.
I've read Ms. Le Carre's books before and I was surprised by this one.

The writing was stilted.
The dialogue was unnatural, forced, almost antiquated.
The plot was a good idea that quickly left center stage.
And mostly, the attraction, the closeness, the sharing happened too quickly. The danger, the intrigue, the conclusion...whoosh. Unrealistic, regardless of how much I suspended my disbelief.

It felt amateurish, especially with editing glitches and poorly structured sentences.

I think I'm done with Ms. Le Carre.
The first part of this book was hitting all my “soon to be favorite” spots and I was loving everything about Kit and Lara. However, something seemed to change once they officially got together. The dialogue became a bit stilted and even what they said and how they occasionally acted was rather immature. I couldn’t get around it. Then the whole story kind of took a turn that I didn’t see coming and what I thought was going to be the pivoting drama of the book no longer existed. However, I was okay with the direction it took and was glad to see the dialogue cleared up some at that point as well.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read but I was disappointed it lost some of its spark.

I LOVED this book. It is the first book I have read from this author and before I wrote this review I scrolled through her other books and placed other books by her on my wish list. I am also glad I did not read the other reviews. I would not have wanted spoilers or less than great offerings. I thought this was a very smart and clever book. I thought the writing was solid and I loved the primary characters. The secondary characters were also very interesting. The twists and turns were shocking and relatable. I would love a book about her friend and REALLY feel this author could have a great series about this "group" who gave my heart a shock. I really hope this is in the works. Other readers have supported this wonderful book so I would ask this author to give serious consideration to this. I would also love to have a window into this couple and know how they will do with a family. I am thrilled to have read this book! I would not have changed a sentence. Great job! denise bailey
I own every single book by Georgia Le Carre, she is a fantastic author!! Love how she is able to draw me in and really care about the characters in her books. I wasn't sure what to expect with this book, but it was such a positive story, and the heroine in the story was so sweet and such a happy person despite her disability and I really fell in love with her. And the chemistry between the two was amazing. Can't wait to see what is next from this amazing author!!
I find this book problematic. I liked that the heroine is blind, and the initial set-up is interesting. But it needs more editing, I think. The beginning story is that the hero wants someone to read to him because his mother read to him when he was five, shortly before she died. The author seems to forget this back-story about half-way through and has him tell a different story about his mother. There are other mistakes, too, like which side of his face is scarred, and then some editing and language mistakes. The idea that the protagonist is very scarred internally and externally seems to get dropped, too, except for a passing reference. So, it could use another pass with an editor.

It's interesting to have both protagonists tell the story, but I found the man's narration of sex course and rushed.

The plot takes an ugly twist in getting rid of a character -- I understand the whole "bad-boy/hero" protagonist idea, but I though the brutality was unnecessary and not particularly satisfying.

There were heart-warming parts with wolves, and a couple of scenes brought a tear to my eye. It was a quick read, and if you don't know much about blind people there was some education to it. It did introduce me to the idea of romance novels with protagonists that have a disability, so that was good.
Why? the fire star reviews make me question why? This book was just bizarre and more than a little boring. It started out so slow that i was about to give up. Then it got good between the two main characters. Then the author throws in a chapter about an ex that could have been great but was a major let down. The scenes between Kit and Laura were strange. The sex was annoying with Kit constantly saying I missed my pink p*ssy and things like that. Grosss. Then Kit does something with his buddies that would have made any girl run as fast as she could for the hills but not laura. She was like okay. Spoiler.................................. He murdered the ex with all his army buddies. It was a group thing. What??? The book was not good in my opinion.
